There is no limit to how long the ARB will meet to hear cases. As long as the docket is full, the boards will continue to meet until all taxpayers are heard. This is one of the reasons for the increased members in 2023, as it provides a shorter appeal season for the board and the CAD to sort through. In 2023, there were 77 days of hearings held. This was down from 98 in 2022. This shows that expanding the number of boards paid significant dividends and with the demand rising for more formal appeals, the trend of adding boards could continue into the future.

Because of this, they are paid rather well, depending on the county. In El Paso, the ARB was paid a total of $336,900 in 2023. The highest pay per day was $200, while the lowest was $150, and the median pay was $150 per day. This put El Paso well below the average pay seen in Texas, which had a median pay of $275 per day.
